Week 2  Wow and Wonder

I have learned from this week that protecting one’s privacy is of great importance in people’s daily life. The wow thing from this post lie in that I can not understand the meaning of the following sentence” digital natives or digital immigrants difference has been dead or at least is dying” in the article “Networked Privacy”. The wonder thing is that whether there are some perfect ways to protect one’s privacy, which is one of the essential things that should be implemented in people’s daily life. In the current society, computers and internet are widely used. More and more advanced technologies have been developed to pose some threats to the privacy of people’s life. It is necessary to find some effective ways to realize such a goal of protecting the privacy of people to a certain extent. The network platform’s openness along with share of resources have determined that there are some safety issues considering from the aspect of financial privacy; therefore, it is of great importance to pay full attention to the protection of online financial privacy (Song & Law, 2017). If people’s online financial privacy is not well protected, it will cause huge negative influences on people while they use the internet, especially in the public internet places. On the other hand, if the online privacy of people can be ensured, it will bring huge benefits to users. In the current society, we have witnessed a lot of technology advances in our daily life which have greatly helped us to solve some serious issues. I wonder if there will be some more effective methods by using some more advanced technologies to protect people’s privacy to a certain extent so that people will enjoy a much safer internet environment.

Week 3 Wow and Wonder

The wow thing that I have in this module is that I have some of the troubles in understanding the following sentence that “Observable behaviours are much more critical than the understanding of internal activities” in the article “Connectivism: A Learning Theory for the Digital Age”. as I can not figure out some examples in my daily life to support it to let me have a good understanding of this sentence. Are there some examples that can support such an idea? On the other hand, the wonder thing in this module is as follows: what is pragmatism? Could anyone use the simple language to help me to have a better understanding of this term? Firstly, it is quite hard for me to have a good understanding of the term pragmatism on the basis of my previous knowledge. In addition, there are something that makes this term become quite abstract for understanding. I have learned from the internet that pragmatism means the philosophical tradition which is on the basis of principles that workability, usefulness, as well as practicality of policies, proposals and ideas are the merit criteria (Göran& Melin, 2000); however, I still feel quite confused about this term and its consequences that will influence the daily life of people.
